Driving lessons and starting points
Driving lessons for all individual needs quickly, flexibly and at a good price-quality ratio. We offer basic driving training, refresher or further training for both those with a driving license and those without a driving license. Driving lessons are readily available in conjunction with the course package or separately for customers with a teaching permit or studying at a different driving school – and even for the same week.
As a course participant or by first registering for a driving lesson package, we recommend booking driving lessons Slotti online booking and at least 4 hours in advance. However, please do not book the first available driving lesson of the next day at night. By planning together, you can also book driving lessons between 7-8 am and 6-7 pm and even for the same day. Driving lessons are usually run Mon-Fri between 8 am and 6 pm. Driving lessons should preferably be cancelled by 12:00 pm on the previous working day or at the very latest 24 hours before the agreed time via the cancellation link in the booking confirmation, by calling or via Whatsapp message +358 40 576 2015. The last driving lesson (50 minutes) is always taken on the same day before the driving test and departure from the driving school office. So, keep track of the number of driving lessons completed and the progress of your studies so that you do not drive all the driving lessons before booking the driving test, if you do not want to take the so-called extra driving lessons for an additional fee. If necessary, we can provide you with a vehicle for your Ajovarma handling or driving test a little further away, such as in Hyvinkää, Karkkila or Lohja. However, we mainly operate in the Helsinki metropolitan area (Etelä-Haaga, Vantaa-kaivoksela, Malmi, Herttoniemi and Espoo). Please ask for more information!
The teacher will acknowledge the reserved driving lessons on your teaching card immediately after the lesson has been completed. As a student, you, together with a possible guardian/payer, can also keep your own records of your studies.
Below are preliminary instructions that are only indicative and facilitate self-assessment and goal-setting regarding the completion of the AM 120, A1, A2, A and B course driving lessons. In general, when drawing up a personal study plan, it is a good idea to take into account that driving lessons begin and progress systematically without major breaks from the beginning until the approved driving test. This means that there is as little forgetting as possible during the course. It is also a good idea to have as much theoretical knowledge as possible from the beginning of the driving lessons, so that practical driving lessons can be learned more efficiently and comfortably, and to also focus, where possible, on applying theoretical knowledge and independent exercises, which therefore partly already require mastery of theoretical knowledge related to the basics of car handling and traffic control.
Driving lessons always start as a rule and by default at the Etelä-Haaga office at Vihdintie 8. Different starting and ending points for driving lessons can also be agreed separately under certain conditions. Driving lessons start from different starting points and also from places requested by the customers, but therefore the duration of the driving lesson is at least 1.5 driving hours (75min / booking), also on the same day before the driving test. Driving hours starting from a different starting point + car use for the driving test (at Ajovarma offices in the Helsinki metropolitan area) can be arranged by selecting for example 3h package €246 + car use in driving test €120 = 366€ and so that the previous day 75min and just before the driving test 75min + car use in driving test 60min + return to starting point. If the student wants less than 75min booking-specific driving lessons and still start these from different starting points, we will charge an additional fee for the teacher’s transfer (€20 / transition). The amount of driving instruction depends on the driving license class
- For a motorcycle license, you need at least 5 hours of driving instruction.
- For a car license, you need at least 10 hours of driving instruction.
- There is no specified minimum number of driving hours for a moped license, but our course packages include at least 2-4 driving hours.
- The amount of required driving instruction depends on the individual needs of the license holder, as well as any prior knowledge and skills. The amount and content of instruction and practice can be adjusted flexibly based on learning needs, with the minimum amount being the aforementioned number of hours. The more supervised practice you have before taking the driving test, the better prepared you will be for independent driving after obtaining your license.
- You can acquire driving instruction at a driving school or with a supervising instructor.
Mandatory hour requirements are only indicative. Learning to drive is individual, and becoming a driver requires a variable amount of practice. Practice makes perfect – the more you practice, the more confident and reliable driver you will become. It is especially important to have driving lessons closely together 2-3 times a week without 2-3 week breaks between lessons until the first driving lesson all the way to the approved driving test. You can book your driving lessons independently through your own Webauto account. Book your first driving lesson only after planning with your supervising teacher a suitable teaching rhythm and goals.
Driving lessons can begin after you have independently studied as much theory information as possible, especially related to car handling and traffic situations. It is a good idea to start driving lessons with a driving simulator, if included in your course package. It is recommended to have driving lessons in the car at least 2 times a week without breaks until the approved driving test. The driving test is booked with the driving school well in advance, taking into account the busy periods of the examination service (Ajovarma Oy).
Driving lessons for B-course with minimum instruction

DISTRIBUTION OF DRIVING LESSONS WITH MINIMUM TEACHING REQUIREMENTS, but additional driving lessons can be added as needed.
(10 x 50min, new curriculum for B-course effective from 1.7.2018)
1 – 2 – Handling the car in the parking lot and in easier traffic situations
(During these couple of driving lessons, preparation for driving, starting from a hill, correct use of controls, techniques for changing gears and using the steering wheel, staying in one’s own lane, approaching intersections, stopping the car and changing gears to 1st gear immediately upon stopping, etc.)
3 – 4 – Handling traffic situations in more diverse traffic situations.
5 – 6 – Handling traffic situations in more challenging situations, on highways and in the city. After these driving lessons, it should be possible to complete the Risk Identification Training (RTK) driving lessons (4x50min) also on a driving practice track or alternatively in a driving simulator.
7 – 8 – Planning the route and journey, with the student taking more responsibility for driving.
9 – 10 – Driving on the test area and the final driving lesson on the same day just before the test, aiming for independent, safe, ecological, social, and overall responsible driving, taking into account one’s own skills and control of the situation.

(4 x 50min, new curriculum for B-course effective from 1.7.2018)
The driving lessons can be completed with the minimum teaching requirements according to the following goals and plan, and it is advisable to arrange these approximately 2-3 weeks in advance in order to reserve a time from the track company that suits both the customer and the instructor’s schedules. If the RTK training is completed with a focus on driving simulators, it can be done faster, but the learning results will surely not be as good as with a real car in real slippery track conditions.
1 – Driving in urban traffic ecologically, socially, and safely

AM120 course driving hours with minimum instruction
Moped course (AM120) driving hours according to individual needs (course packages include 2-4 driving hours)
(The new curriculum for the AM120 course starting on July 1, 2018 does not include any mandatory driving hours) Previously, the driving hours were completed over three days with minimum teaching hours according to the following goal and plan, and this often resulted in sufficient control of the moped in handling and traffic situations.
Day 1 = 50 min = 1. slow ride | 2. gates | 3. Driving lessons for A1/A2/A course with minimum instruction
5 driving hours for light motorcycle and motorcycle course (A1/A2/A)
DISTRIBUTION OF DRIVING HOURS WITH MINIMUM INSTRUCTION LEVELS, additional driving hours can be added as needed.
(5 x 50min = For example, 100min before the handling test (or option 2 = 75min) + 100min (or option 2 = 125min) and always 50min before the driving test) The driving hours can be completed over three days following the target and plan as follows. Day 1 = 100min (or option 2 = 75min) = 1st slow driving task 1a + 1b | 3. gates | 4. stop & go = Passed Day 2 = 100min (or option 2 = 125min) = 1st slow driving task 1a + 1b | 2. evasion | 3. gates | 4. stop & go | 5. emergency braking = Handling test is passed immediately after the driving hour. Day 3 = 50 min = sufficient control of the motorcycle in traffic situations = Driving test is passed immediately after the driving hour.
RISK IDENTIFICATION TRAINING (RTK)
Mandatory for those obtaining a car (category B) driving license.
- The training includes 4 theory lessons and 4 driving lessons on identifying and managing risks in road traffic. Driving lessons may partly be conducted on a simulator.
- The training aims to enhance skills for driving in difficult conditions and to support the adoption of a safe and responsible driving style. Specifically, the training focuses on improving the ability to identify and avoid traffic hazards and factors that could impair the driver’s abilities and increase the risk of accidents.
- Training can be received at a driving school or from a trainer approved by the authorities.
- The training must be completed before the driving test, and the RTK certificate must be presented to the examiner.

What is good to know about the conditions for canceling driving lessons?
- If you need to cancel a driving lesson, it must be done at least 24 hours before the agreed time.
- After this, a cancellation fee will be charged for canceled or unused driving lessons (in the simulator €40, driving lesson with a teacher €80)
- We charge €190 for an RTK training track day (three-hour package) that is not cancelled or cancelled too late.
Cancellation conditions in cases of illness:
- If you become ill, please notify us as soon as possible and cancel your bookings immediately, but no later than 8 hours before your booked appointment via text or WhatsApp. So preferably cancel the night before if you feel like you are going to be sick.
- For non-cancelled driving lessons, we charge a cancellation fee according to the price list, and for lessons canceled less than 8 hours before the reserved time, we charge 50% of the cancellation fee.
- In cases of illness, we do not charge for booked times if the driving lesson is cancelled at least 8 hours before the booked time and the student submits a sick leave certificate to the driving school within 14 days of the cancellation.
NOTE! If there is a handling or driving test for the same day, it must be canceled no later than the previous weekday within the opening hours of the driving school office! Ajovarma Oy charges 50% of the price of a late canceled driving or handling test, and a new test booking cannot be made until the non-cancellable fee has been paid.

Choose a driving school service and register
We will be happy to help you choose the driver’s license studies, course package and study materials that suit your individual needs, and in all steps of the studies, from registration to the approved driving test.
1. EAS-training
The training for the first driver's license (EAS) must be completed before starting the inst. permit driving lessons and the certificate must be with you in the driving lessons.
2. RTK-training
Risk identification training (RTK) must be completed before the driving test and the certificate must be taken to the driving test. Please ask it from the office.
3. Car (B) real car 1/2
Car course packages with 11-13/14 driving hours with a real car and 1-3 /14 with a driving simulator. Packages 1-2 for those with cards and 3-4 for those without cards.
4. Car (B) simulator 2/2
Driving course packages with 6-8/14 driving hours with a real car and 6-8 / 14 with a driving simulator. Packages 1-2 for those with a card and 3-4 for those without a card.
5. Driving inst. permit (B) 1/2
We provide EAS and RTK training, study materials and passport photos, as well as, if necessary, driving lessons + use of the car for the driving test.

Changing a foreign driver's license to a Finnish driver's license when the student has to take a theory test and a driving test. Just ask this order first from the Ajovarma office.
19. Driving ability assessment
Driving ability assessment prescribed by a doctor, a driving lesson (50 min) and a traffic instructor's statement, which is delivered to both the doctor and the customer.
